Solar Power for DX — How Practical?

Hello All. I was wondering just how practical it would be to use solar power for portable DXing...... Recently I was passing one of the local schools here in Corsica and I noticed that the school crossing sign was powered by a little solar panel. Then a few days ago I noticed some guys carrying out road works and their temporary traffic signals were powered by solar power.
So this got me wondering as to how practical it would be to use a solar panel/s to do some portable DXing. Now I know that you need lots of sun etc etc. but surely if you were based on some exotic island (settle down Jordan I said exotic NOT erotic :-))it would be a great way to do away with having to lug a heavy car battery or generator around with you.
So come on you technical wizards out there! Let me know if it is possible to do some portable DXing using solar power and without having to use a massive solar panel the size of a house :-)
