ICOM SP-3 Communications Speaker

Hi All. I noticed that the poll on ICOM speakers has hit a bit of a snag... In my opinion, the ICOM SP-3 Communications Speaker is a pretty good general purpose speaker. I had been using this speaker for a few years hooked originally to my IC-751A rig and it sounded just fine. Not too much bass and not to much treble, with a full rich sound.
Like a lot of the stuff I buy, I bought mine on VK Ham for around $60.00 in decent condition but I have seen the odd one on US eBay (Though the postage is a killer). It also matched my old IC735 and matched fairly well with my IC756 Pro2.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t leave well enough alone and bought a brand new SP23 which, according to product brochures, matches the Pro perfectly. Only it sounds bloody terrible. Bad frequency response, tinny sounding and just not up to what I am used to from ICOM. If you can find a SP3 get it — but stay away from the ridiculous SP23.
That's just my opinion but I'd be interested to hear what other users of the site have to say about it...
Regards,
Pete
