One of the best things about our radio hobby is that it allows us to meet a wide range of interesting people. Crazy tech heads, antenna enthusiasts, sandbaggers, raving mad QSO hogs and more. Every now and then, though, you meet someone with whom you strike up an immediate bond — a friendship which lasts forever. This month, 11m DX Activities Oz, the web's best on-line DX magazine, goes one on one with one of 43 Division's Sugar Delta members in a reveal all interview.

A. 63 years old
Q. What are your 11m callsign/s?
A. 43 SD171, 43 TR071.
Q. Which DX Groups do you belong to?
A. I’m a member of Sugar Delta and Tweed Radio clubs.
Q. In what state/ city/ town do you live?
A. Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Q. How long have you been on radio?
A. Approximately six years.
Q. How did you get involved in communications?
A. Some gear left behind by a son when he moved on.
Q. What was your first ever transceiver and who bought it for you?
A. Uniden Washington Base for CB, R C I 2950 for upper 11m band
which were purchased by me.
Q. Other than radio communications, what are your interests?
A. Gardening and fishing
Q. What is your favourite aspect of 11m DX’ing?
A. Being able to communicate with people around the world.
Q. How many DXCC have you confirmed?
A. 200
Q. In your experience, what is the hardest continent to work?
A. Africa.
Q. What do you regard as the best DX contact you have ever made?
A. 213 Division, Market Reef.
Q. If you had the opportunity to conduct a DXpedition anywhere in the world, where would it be?
A. Macquarie Island.

A. Yaesu FT DX 9000 transceiver, desk microphone and a 6 Element Quad antenna
