'Shack Shame' - It's Time to Hide!

Okay, arms raised who’s ever done something ridiculously stupid on radio? Something so careless or plane right ludicrous you can look back now from your chair of wisdom in the shack and say, “What a crack up THAT was!”

If your hand’s not up or you’re not having a quiet chuckle to yourself about a past misdemeanor which lead to any level of shack-shame by now then you oughta take a big dose of honesty pills and climb back on the ‘time-to-get-fairdinkum’ chair!

I think it’s fair to say that EVERYONE, at some time or another, has transgressed to what Star Wars fans would call “the Dark Side”; that all 27 MHz operators have suffered the curse of Freeband foolishness at one time in their life and lived to tell the tale…

That the wrath of embarrassment has be cast upon us says nothing about our worth as a Freebander, or our credentials as a 21st Century Radio Communicologist, merely that beneath the facade of invincibility we like to transmit to our mates on-air, there is a vulnerability almost equal to the non-Freeband mortals (ie. Hams) or civilian community.

Whether it be a minor indiscretion such as calling CQ DX on 27.555 MHz LSB or a major lapse in concentration such as sending QSL cards to the wrong operators, the list of bloopers, I’m sure, would be endless.

With this in mind, please share YOUR moment of madness on the mic or YOUR DX-treme disaster off it, knowing that your recklessness or blunder will provide 5/9-40+ reading pleasure for fellow Users or help prevent similar madness in the shack from the same.
