Not Only XYL's Fake it...

In breaking news, website managers and forum lists have been flooded by complaints from irate 11m DXers around the world about phoney login names and callsign stealing that is bubbling out of control. By all reports, angry protests started pouring in when legitimate operators with allocated DX Group callsigns attempted to log in or join a site or forum list, only to be informed that the callsign had already been taken.

The world’s most comprehensive online DX magazine, ‘11m DX Activities Oz’, has not been protected from this on-line turmoil in the past also with Admin under the gun from contributors about dodgy usernames on the site and offensive posts. Reports from an unnamed DX HQ in Europe about a user recently banned from this site for verbal abuse, for example, confirm that he had in fact stolen the callsign from a dead 11m DXer.

“People make up fake identities and stir up trouble,” according to one angry forum user, “and then give the REAL operator a bad name. They do it because they think they can’t get caught. It &^%$# stinks!”

What’s the answer to this problem? Or is it something we need to get used to? How would you feel if someone stole YOUR callsign and started making outlandish statements on world DX forums? What would you do?

Please comment.
